“My name is Claire, and I am an 8th grader at Notre Dame Academy. This past week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. I’ve been a student here at NDA since I was in kindergarten, and every year I always look forward to Catholic Schools Week. It was a fun-filled week with dressing up in different themed costumes each day, the Spelling Bee, the pep rally, and this year, a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. At the end of the week, we had the annual 8th grade vs. staff minute-to-win-it game which is a perfect conclusion to Catholic Schools Week.
Students at NDA are able to be a part of a lot of fun activities. At our school you can participate in sports teams, clubs, student council, the middle school play, and fun events throughout the year such as marathon, the talent show, and field day.
One of my favorite parts of NDA is the safe and loving community. The teachers, staff, and students make NDA a very friendly environment. The teachers are always willing to answer questions or lend a hand. They do a great job of being supportive and encouraging us to do our best. It is also special that Father John is so involved in our school. You can always find him at school events or even making a cameo appearance in the middle school play.
Catholic education is another aspect that stands out at NDA. Here we learn to be kind and accepting of everyone. We are able to deepen our faith by having religion class and getting the opportunity to go to Mass every week. We participate in Mass as well by reading, cantoring, and altar serving. We have many opportunities to do community service by participating in food drives and tying blankets for those in need.
I have loved my experience at NDA, especially Catholic Schools Week, and appreciate the prayers and support I receive from our whole community!”
We appreciate Claire sharing her 8th grade Catholic Schools Week reflection with us. Check out this video on our Facebook page that includes some fun clips from our 2023 Catholic Schools Week!
