This year we added a new element to our marathon, prayer! As we celebrate gratitude this year (particularly for God’s promise to be with us always) we wanted to offer to pray for the intentions of our friends and family. We knew we could do this while asking people for Marathon donations.
While students visited with friends and family about this year’s Marathon, they could easily offer to pray for intentions in addition to asking for monetary donations on our behalf. Prayer cards were included in the marathon envelopes for people to write down their prayer intentions. Students then collected those cards and brought them to school. We welcomed all prayer intentions and received several prayers from our school community!
Tuesday of Marathon week, classes and staff members took time during the day to be in church with the blessed sacrament. While visiting Jesus, they prayed for the intentions given to us by others. Students want people to know that as an NDA community we pray for our family, friends and greater community. We will keep all of the prayer cards for the remainder of the year and continue to pray for these intentions.
Both teachers and students really appreciated this new addition to the NDA Marathon. Praying for others is an important part of our daily life here at NDA and adoration was another way to incorporate prayer and let others know that we care about them. It also gave us an opportunity to teach our students about adoration, why we do it, and how it works. We’d like to thank Father John for leading us through this all school eucharistic adoration.
